This is a shout out to my homegirl. After much anticipation, T Swizzle's 1989 album came out today and she nailed it again.
After work, I drove all the way to Super Target to buy the hard copy of her newest album, just like I did in high school with every other album I waited for (John Mayer's Continuum, Keane's second album that I can't remember because it just wasn't very good, every Guster album after Keep it Together, just to name a few). I stood in line to check out, feeling like my giddy 16 year-old self and holding just the album - no groceries or extras. I thought about picking up some things I needed for practicality's sake, but savoring the high school moment was just too good.
I didn't buy the album from iTunes because TS put unique polaroids in every hard copy of the album (pictured above) and I drove all the way to Target because Target was the only place that had the deluxe copy with 3 extra songs.
And that's why I unabashedly love T Swift. She does whatever the freak she wants. And she helps remind me of my young and awesome self.
One of my other favorite lines (apart from the lyrics listed on the two polaroids above):
"I got a long list of ex-lovers, they'll tell you I'm insane;
'Cause you know I love the players, and you love the game."
-Track 2 "Blank Space"
Boom, son.
